Cat Care - Is it More than Just Food and Water?

Although your cat may act independent, he still counts on you to provide him with food, water, safe shelter, veterinary care, companionship, and more. Although the phrase “cat care” may bring to mind thoughts of hard work or obligation, with the right attitude and a little information, caring for your cat can become an enjoyable part of your day.

Caring for your cat’s needs is the most important part of keeping your cat healthy and happy. By educating yourself about cat care and practicing the best, tested feline care techniques to provide your cat with optimum attention, you can make sure that your cat is as happy as possible.

Some experts theorize that the reason why engaging in hands on care of a cat can both increase your life span and improve your health has to do with the simple fact that cat care offers you stability. There are few experiences more rewarding than reveling in the knowledge that you have done a job well, and cat care is no exception.

Many people think that caring for their cat and enjoying their cat are two separate activities. But playing with your cat is part of cat care. It lets your cat hone his hunting skills, seeking the prey, making the stealthy approach, pouncing with conviction and enjoying the kill.

For play time there are a number of different cat toys on the market these days. It might be hard to decide which your cat will like. Some good cat toys you can buy include balls with bells in them, catnip mice, and wand toys.

There are several different things you need to have on hand before you bring your new cat home: a food bowl, cat scratching post, litter box, toys, and bed, besides plenty of fresh water. If you have an older cat, be sure to monitor his drinking. Many older cats do not drink enough.

Caring for your cat is not difficult. It entails daily feeding, grooming, cleaning the kitty litter, filling the water bowl with fresh water, and giving your cat attention. The rewards you get are companionship, love, and a friend.
